As an international development agency, our commitment is clear: Strengthening small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) as the backbone of our region’s economy.
Promoting inclusive business models helps create more competitive, resilient and fairer markets where MSMEs can integrate into global value or supply chains. Through the ASEAN Access portal (www.aseanaccess.com), we facilitate access to information, networks and new markets for MSMEs in ASEAN – including knowledge-sharing on more sustainable and socially responsible business practices.

My Pledge
1. Policy advisory support:
GIZ is committed to contributing to the vision of a dynamic and people-centred ASEAN Economic Community (AEC). With funding from German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), we provide MSMEs with resources that prepare them for cross-border trade.
In close cooperation with the ASEAN Coordinating Committee on MSMEs (ACCMSME), our work centres around the ASEAN Access portal (www.aseanaccess.com). For currently more than 3,200 registered members, ASEAN Access offers a one-stop information gateway – including a databank of 360 dedicated service providers and an expanding network of over 40 support organizations. Through ASEAN Access, MSMEs can get matched with suitable business partners while expanding their understanding of practical and policy requirements in foreign markets.
ASEAN Access has the potential of being leveraged as one of the platforms for policy dialogues, networking and learning for MSMEs on various issues. Given the growing importance of inclusive business, this includes knowledge exchanges about innovative and successful inclusive business models that can be replicated or scaled across countries.
